Duties

• Key Performance Area 1: Technical Abilities
1) Develop design solutions using analytical techniques
2) Implement projects including construction monitoring and supervision, contract administration and quality assurance, to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
3) Take time to produce engineering solutions and designs, and to make changes
4) Develop detailed design, compilation and revision of drawings, documents, letters and reports,
5) Compile proposals, cost estimates and feasibility studies for potential work
6) Prepare and review tender and contract documentation
7) Ensure data security and proper management of Company assets
8) Repeat business and referrals
9) Profitability of projects, and adherence to budgets
10) Expressed client satisfaction and feedback

• Key Performance Area 2: Internal and External Communication

• Key Performance Area 3: Oversee Compliance
1) Compile and submit permit applications to local government agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations
2) Perform visual inspections of completed work including testing and qualifications
3) Ensure that the projects adhere to government and industry standards and guidelines
4) Ensure the paperwork is recorded and stored properly
5) Adherence to prescribed Environmental and OHS issues as specified in the contract document
6) Ensure that the Conditions of Contract, Specifications, and plans relating to the work is implemented and executed
7) Ensure quality of work is compliant, site instructions are executed as instructed and material testing is carried out as required

Key Performance Area 4: Plan and Implement Projects
1) Design, execution, specifications and execution of various projects
2) Present findings on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statement, or property description
3) Use design software to plan and design transportation systems, hydraulic systems, and structures in line with industry and government standards
4) Evaluate construction projects and determine the best engineering method or practice to accomplish the job
5) Establish and estimate cost and identify tools and technologies appropriate for the job

Key Performance Area 5: Supervise Projects
1) Implement project including construction monitoring and supervision, contract administration and quality assurance
2) Chair technical meetings as and when required
3) Ensure staff is properly trained in the use of all equipment
4) Ensure all staff have access to and use of any safety gear and the team is reaching the required milestone
5) Evaluate the issue and provide appropriate solutions if the construction crew encounters any technical issue
6) Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
7) Keep track of the financial performance of allocated work

13) Comply with company policies and procedures as well as all applicable legislation i.e. BMS, ISO Standards, Disciplinary Code, etc

Min Qualification(s)
1) Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Civil Engineering (BSc Eng Civil)
2) Postgraduate Qualification in Civil Engineering
3) Registered as a Professional Engineer at ECSA
4) Registered as candidate for a Professional Engineer at ECSA

Experience
1) Contractual knowledge of the JBCC, GCC, FIDIC and NEC forms of contract
2) Understanding of construction industry
3) Disciplinary procedures
4) Internal staff policies
5) Knowledge of road infrastructure design standards, policies and construction specifications is beneficial
6) Working knowledge of associated with the design of earthworks, roads, storm-water and services associated with building sites and subdivisions
